Episode 23. How to Him Him Consistently

Have you noticed that President Nelson has had a really big emphasis on receiving revelation and hearing Him for the past few years? 

I know I have!

In President Nelson's talks across conferences He's pleading with us to receive more power, more revelation, more direct access with the Holy Spirit and with the Lord.

President Nelson's Pattern

Listen to this pattern I found just looking at some of his talks in the past few years.

The first one that was really meaningful to me and stood out was in April 2018 he said,

"In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost." 

Then in October 2020 he said,

"I promise that as you increase your capacity to receive revelation, the Lord will bless you with increased direction for your life and with boundless gifts of the Spirit."

And he immediately followed in April 2020 with,

"I renew my plea for you to do whatever it takes to increase your spiritual capacity to receive personal revelation."

And again in April 2021 he again said,

"I hope you have found an increased ability to hear Him and receive personal revelation.”

That is quite a pattern, urging and warning if I do say so myself.

My Story

Actually that talk in 2018 is what really kicked me in the but and got me going on my ability to receive revelation. 

Before that talk, I was already reading my scriptures, saying my prayers and attending church. 

I was doing all the right things So how was I going to stretch myself? 

But his statement of not being able to survive spiritually in the coming days just stuck at the forefront of my mind. 

The prophet of God was URGING me to do something! 

And the prophet is a SEER, and if he is seeing that I will not survive spiritually in the future without these tools, I am l going to listen! 

I felt like I needed to implement something ASAP! 

But how? 

I started looking at personal study guides I could use to help me understand the scriptures more deeply. As I tried various ways to study, understand, and seek guidance, I took bits and pieces from various sources. 

I found that it was important for me to write down how I saw the hand of God in my life daily. I saw power in asking for help with my day from the Lord. I saw direct revelation coming as I was able to seek specific questions in my study and my ability to receive revelation grew as I wrote down my thoughts during my study and prayer. 

As I started to use do these strategies daily I felt His spirit letting me know I need to pursue this path to help YOU as well. That’s how I came to start my business and podcast. This is still what I use to receive revelation, peace and guidance daily.

5 Elements to Hear Him

In using these tools for the past few years I have noticed there are 5 key elements to hear him daily.

1. Stillness

President Nelson has said,

“Commotion in the world will continue to increase. In contrast, the voice of the Lord is not “a voice of a great tumultuous noise, but … it [is] a still voice of perfect mildness, [like] a whisper, and it [pierces] even to the very soul.” In order to hear this still voice, you too must be still!” 

2. Intentional time receiving

Michelle Craig said,

"Just imagine what would happen if we were as intent on staying connected with heaven as we are on staying connected to Wi-Fi! Pick a time and place, and listen for God’s voice every day. And keep this sacred appointment with exactness, for so very much depends on it!" 

3. Ponder prayer

The guide to the scriptures says,

“When combined with prayer, pondering the things of God may bring revelation and understanding”.

4. Ask

Matthew 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

5. Act

Gospel topics says,

"Heavenly Father is pleased when we get on our knees and ask for help and then get on our feet and go to work. He will help us in all our righteous pursuits."

Now you're probably thinking, yeah Niki those are all great, but 

• My life is so chaotic and busy I can’t find time to do those
• I have tried doing some of those and they didn’t work for me
•  I can’t seem to hear the spirit no matter what
